So why name the shop Mollie Smyth

Mollie was an Aunt of my Dad's who lived in Ireland and passed away in 1939 aged just nineteen.

We had an Irish literature book belonging to Mollie.

Inside on many pages she had penned little Poems. One of the poems had a lasting affect on me....

'Mollie Smyth is my Name.

With this pen I write the same.

Crinstown is my place of birth.

Heaven is my salvation.

When I am dead and in my grave

and all my books are rotten.

This little book will tell my name

when I am but forgotten.'

So my little flower shop at the top of the hill now has her name.

Our Story

My background has always been in the creative field.

Working from home when my two boys were small - making bespoke wedding dresses.

A ten year stint living and loving life on the Isle of Wight saw me making soft furnishing for Royalty, 'A' list celebrities and the like.

Coming back home I was a Visual Merchandiser dressing Garden Centres through seasonal changes and Christmas. A job I absolutely loved, leaving that behind to open my little shop.

My path into floristry started over twenty five years ago - when my love for putting flowers together just to have at home led me to doing the wedding flowers for my brother and sister-in-law.

I'm self taught, with a passion for natural, rustic style flowers, preferring to let the flowers do their own thing rather than being teased to do something they don't naturally do. Not having them so tightly bunched together that they look almost stiff. I Love them loosely put together that they can almost dance.

'Hand picked from the garden' and 'gathered from the meadow' are how some customers have described the way my flowers are put together - and I consider Mollies style to be just that.

I opened the shop in 2018, filling it with cottage garden style flowers that are slightly different, delicate, seasonal and try were possible to add scent.

Whether you're sending a bouquet for a birthday, thank you , sympathy flowers or 'just because' - they will always be beautifully presented - Mollie style.
